smol makes his debut on Gravitas Recordings June 23rd with his “Yu & Me” EP, pushing the boundaries of bass music with a fusion of heavy bass and emotional songwriting. Full of collaborations with friends and family, this EP truly is a journey through his unique sound and showcases what this talented producer is capable of. smol has had some huge support from endless large artists and record labels, even starting his own label DoYu Digital. Continuing to push the boundaries of electronic music, this hybrid of sounds perks the listener’s ears and leaves us wanting more!

“For this body of work I aimed to create a delicate balance of energy between dark gritty sounds and lush, swoon-ish vibes. I wanted to join with friends and family on this journey down the fused path of today's hybrid/experimental music. The music I created with three of my friends was made in separate studios, sharing projects files back and forth. While some of the vocals for this EP were recorded from my Wife, daughter and myself in my home studio.” - smol

Do It Different opens the EP with drippy sound design and haunting female vocals, quickly dropping into heavy bass growls and trappy drums. The track still stays stripped back and brings in more emotional and melodic synths, a rollercoaster of emotions and vibes that holds true to its name as something different. Yu & Me with Omnist is the title track and keeps the melodic and heavy bass rolling into a beautiful soundscape that gave us flashbacks to CharlesTheFirst productions. Yet again smol perfectly rides the line between heavy and bass and melodic songwriting! I Like Yu with ZURGLIN is a stand-out single and is the hardest hitter on the release, quickly dropping into epic bass wobbles and glitchy sound effects. We can’t help but move to this last one and bob our heads to the rhythm of this track. Coming Together with Visive brings the energy back down to close out this journey of an EP, with a long epic build of pretty synths, distant vocals and deep reese basses. After the epic build it drops into a heavy synth while keeping the emotional elements of the build, bringing yet again into a perfect drum & bass second drop. A perfect way to close this EP with some happy liquid drum & bass vibes!
